Lanturn Guide

  • In Black & White, Don't let Lanturn's 460 base stat total fool you. Volt Absorb is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a support. Surf with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Black & White, watch for Exeggutor (Grass) and Golem (Ground) when using Lanturn. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Black & White, Run Volt Absorb on Lanturn. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Lanturn also gets Illuminate and Water Absorb, but they don't compare.

  • In Black & White, Lanturn fills the support role. It's a special attacker with base 76 Sp. Atk. At base 67 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Black & White, Lanturn's hidden ability is Water Absorb. Absorbs water moves, healing for 1/4 max HP. Better than the standard options for competitive play.

Game Availability

Lanturn first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 17 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
