Stats & Training
Speed and Defense carry most of Whimsicott's stat budget. HP's the obvious dump stat. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Speed EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Like the wind, it can slip through any gap, no matter how small. It leaves balls of white fluff behind.
Riding whirlwinds, they appear. These Pokémon sneak through gaps into houses and cause all sorts of mischief.
Whimsicott Weakness
Whimsicott's Grass typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. 5 weaknesses means you'll want teammates that can handle the coverage gaps.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, Bug |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water, Electric, Grass, Ground |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Whimsicott Guide
In Black & White, Prankster changes the entire equation for Whimsicott. The 480 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a pivot. Stun Spore with Focus Sash is the standard set.
Prankster is what you want on Whimsicott. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Infiltrator, Chlorophyll) work on paper but Prankster is what makes Whimsicott worth using.
Base 116 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Whimsicott is leaning toward the special side (base 77 Sp. Atk). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a pivot.
In Black & White, Whimsicott's hidden ability is Chlorophyll. Doubles Speed during strong sunlight. Better than the standard options for competitive play.
