Stats & Training
Sp. Def and Speed carry most of Virizion's stat budget. Defense's the obvious dump stat. Near-impossible to catch and yields 3 Sp. Def EVs. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
This Pokémon fought humans in order to protect its friends. Legends about it continue to be passed down.
Its head sprouts horns as sharp as blades. Using whirlwind-like movements, it confounds and swiftly cuts opponents.
Virizion Weakness
Virizion is weak to Flying, Fire, Ice, Poison, and Psychic. Watch out for Flying attacks, those deal 4x damage. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Virizion's special bulk (base 129 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Flying |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Ice, Poison, Psychic |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water, Electric, Grass, Ground, Rock, Dark |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Virizion Guide
In Black & White, Virizion is a Legendary Pokemon rated C-Tier. At 580 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a pivot. Giga Drain with Life Orb is the standard set.
In Black & White, Virizion's biggest threats include Dodrio (Flying), Charizard (Fire), and Cloyster (Ice), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Dodrio is the most dangerous since Flying moves deal 4x damage. Poison and Psychic-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Justified is the go-to ability for Virizion. It raises Attack one stage upon taking damage from a dark move. It's Virizion's only ability.
Base 108 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Virizion is a mixed attacker with base 90 Attack and 90 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a pivot.
In Black & White, the best way to handle Virizion: Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Flying, Fire, and Ice-type attackers hit hardest.
