Stats & Training
Seismitoad's spread is anchored by HP, with balanced defenses backing it up. Speed is the clear weak point. Worth 3 HP EVs per KO, and the 1.06M XP medium-slow curve keeps leveling painless.
It increases the power of its punches by vibrating the bumps on its fists. It can turn a boulder to rubble with one punch.
They shoot paralyzing liquid from their head bumps. They use vibration to hurt their opponents.
Seismitoad Weakness
Grass moves hit Seismitoad for super-effective damage. Grass hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Electric-type moves can't touch it at all. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. With 105 HP and balanced defenses, Seismitoad can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Poison, Rock, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Electric |
In X & Y, Hippowdon deals 36-43% with Earthquake.

How to Get Seismitoad in X & Y
No wild encounters for Seismitoad in X & Y. Bring Tympole over from Black, Omega Ruby, or Sword, then level through the stages. Each step in the chain is laid out below.
How to Obtain Seismitoad in X & Y
Seismitoad Guide
In X & Y, Don't let Seismitoad's 509 base stat total fool you. Swift Swim is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier. Hydro Pump with Quickclaw is the standard set.
In X & Y, Run Swift Swim on Seismitoad. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Seismitoad also gets Poison Touch and Water Absorb, but they don't compare.
In X & Y, Seismitoad fills the balanced role. It's a mixed attacker with base 95 Attack and 85 Sp. Atk. Base 74 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In X & Y, run Hydro Pump, Sludge Bomb, Earthquake, and Drain Punch on Seismitoad. Hydro Pump is the most common pick at 25% usage. Earthquake provides reliable STAB damage.
Game Availability
Introduced in Black & White, Seismitoad has appeared in 8 games across 6 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
