The natural movepool does the job, but Earth Power and Mist from the egg pool give Tympole something extra. Pair those with Hydro Pump and Muddy Water for STAB and Normal and Ground coverage for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

Palpitoad at level 25 is the mid-stage. Push through to Seismitoad at level 36 for the final form. 294 BST right now won't cut it long-term.
Level 25 gets you Palpitoad. Not the fastest evolution, so consider Exp. Share or route grinding to speed it up.
For Black & White, you can run Tympole through the first few routes without issues. 294 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Palpitoad as fast as you can.
