It weakens its prey with sound waves intense enough to cause headaches, then entangles them with its sticky tongue.

Palpitoad Weakness

Palpitoad is weak to Grass. Watch out for Grass attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Electric-type moves entirely. The Water/Ground typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart.

Palpitoad Guide

  • At 384 BST, Palpitoad is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Seismitoad before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • In Sword & Shield, Palpitoad's biggest threats include Venusaur (Grass), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Venusaur is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Sword & Shield, Tympole evolves into Palpitoad at level 25. Palpitoad evolves into Seismitoad at level 36. Palpitoad is a middle-stage evolution in the Tympole line.

  • Palpitoad gets Swift Swim, Hydration, and Water Absorb. But Swift Swim is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • In Sword & Shield, Water Absorb is the hidden ability. It absorbs water moves, healing for 1/4 max HP. Worth hunting for if you want Palpitoad to compete at a higher level.

Game Availability

Since Black & White, Palpitoad has been obtainable in 8 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Palpitoad has appeared steadily across every generation since.
