Stats & Training
The stat bars tell the story: Speed carries everything and Sp. Atk's dead weight. But this Sharp Claw Pokemon still yields 2 Attack and Speed EVs per fight on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
It lives in snowy regions. It carves patterns in trees with its claws as a signal to others.
They live in cold regions, forming groups of four or five that hunt prey with impressive coordination.
Weavile Weakness
Fighting, Fire, Bug, Rock, Steel, and Fairy moves hit Weavile for super-effective damage. Fighting hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Psychic-type moves can't touch it at all.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Fighting |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Bug, Rock, Steel, Fairy |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Ice, Ghost, Dark |
| 0x (Immune) | Psychic |
In X & Y, Zapdos's Heat Wave hits Weavile for 68-80%. Goodra threatens a KO with Draco Meteor (85-100%). Azelf's Explosion also KOs at 98-116%.

X & Y Evolution
Weavile evolved from Sneasel's chain using a held item. It's a non-standard trigger, so check the details below. Breed this form to get Sneasel eggs (average hatch time). The evolution from Sneasel pushed Weavile to 510 total stats. Attack saw the largest single gain at +25. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Weavile to get Sneasel eggs easily using 200 partners from the Ground egg group. Notable egg moves include Assist, Avalanche, Bite and 12 more.
X & Y Weavile Best Moveset
You commit to a move every time Weavile comes in. Choice Band gives raw power at the cost of move flexibility, and Pressure adds to that. Max Attack and Speed EVs make sure the locked move actually hurts. The remaining moves covers the rest.

Weavile Guide
In X & Y, Weavile works as a sweeper with 510 BST behind it. A-Tier on our list: a strong pick in X & Y's competitive scene. Knock Off with Choice Band is the standard set.
In X & Y, watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting), Arcanine (Fire), and Heracross (Bug) when using Weavile. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Hitmonlee is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage. Rock, Steel, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Pressure increases the PP cost of moves targetting the Pokémon by one. That's the one you want on Weavile. Pickpocket is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Weavile is a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 125 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.
For X & Y, Weavile has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.
Game Availability
Since Diamond & Pearl, Weavile has been in 13 games. Requiring an item-based evolution to obtain means it's consistently available but requires more effort than simply catching it in the wild.
