Stats & Training
Jumpluff's spread isn't flashy. Speed leads, Attack trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 3 Speed EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
Blown by seasonal winds, it circles the globe, scattering cotton spores as it goes.
Even in the fiercest wind, it can control its fluff to make its way to any place in the world it wants.
Jumpluff Weakness
Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock moves hit Jumpluff for super-effective damage. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all. Jumpluff's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Ice |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Poison, Flying, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water, Fighting |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass |
| 0x (Immune) | Ground |
In X & Y, Weavile can KO Jumpluff with Ice Shard (141-166%). Zapdos deals 49-58% with Heat Wave.

X & Y Evolution
Jumpluff is the final form in a three-stage chain from Hoppip through Skiploom. Breeding this form produces Hoppip eggs (average hatch time). Evolving from Hoppip gave Jumpluff the biggest boost in Speed (+60), bringing the total to 460 stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Jumpluff to get Hoppip eggs easily using 47 partners from the Fairy and Plant egg groups. Notable egg moves include Amnesia, Aromatherapy, Confusion and 8 more.
X & Y Jumpluff Best Moveset
Chlorophyll helps Jumpluff stick around while dealing real damage. Leftovers for passive recovery each turn, max HP and Speed EVs for the right balance, and Solarbeam as the main threat. Not the fastest, but it doesn't need to be.

Without breeding, Jumpluff misses out on Amnesia and Aromatherapy. That's 11 egg moves adding depth that the base kit lacks. STAB comes from Solar Beam and Energy Ball, with Normal and Fairy coverage and more rounding things out.

How to Get Jumpluff in X & Y
You're catching Hoppip first, not Jumpluff. Hoppip appears at decent rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 3-stage chain with evolution methods between each stage.
Jumpluff Guide
In X & Y, Don't let Jumpluff's 460 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a pivot. Solarbeam with Leftovers is the standard set.
In X & Y, watch for Cloyster (Ice), Arcanine (Fire), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Jumpluff. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Cloyster is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
In X & Y, Run Chlorophyll on Jumpluff. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Jumpluff also gets Leaf Guard and Infiltrator, but they don't compare.
In X & Y, Jumpluff fills the pivot role. It's a physical attacker with base 55 Attack. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
For X & Y, Jumpluff has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Ice, Fire, and Poison-type attackers hit hardest.
