JUMPLUFF ride warm southern winds to cross the sea and fly to foreign lands. This POKéMON lands when it encounters cold air while it is floating.

Emerald

Jumpluff Weakness

Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock moves hit Jumpluff for super-effective damage. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all. Jumpluff's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Chlorophyll helps Jumpluff stick around while dealing real damage. Leftovers for passive recovery each turn, spread EVs for the right balance, and Leech Seed as the main threat. Not the fastest, but it doesn't need to be.

Jumpluff Guide

  • In Emerald, Don't let Jumpluff's 460 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a pivot. Leech Seed with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Emerald, watch for Cloyster (Ice), Arcanine (Fire), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Jumpluff. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Cloyster is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Emerald, Run Chlorophyll on Jumpluff. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Jumpluff also gets Leaf Guard and Infiltrator, but they don't compare.

  • In Emerald, Jumpluff fills the pivot role. It's a mixed attacker with base 55 Attack and 55 Sp. Atk. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Emerald, run Leech Seed, Sleep Powder, Encore, and Substitute on Jumpluff. Leech Seed is the most common pick at 23% usage. This set covers the pivot role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Jumpluff first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 16 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
