Once it catches the wind, it deftly controls its cotton-puff spores--it can even float around the world.

Jumpluff Weakness

Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock moves hit Jumpluff for super-effective damage. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all. Jumpluff's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Jumpluff Guide

  • In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Don't let Jumpluff's 460 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a pivot. Sleep Powder with Wide Lens is the standard set.

  • In HeartGold & SoulSilver, watch for Cloyster (Ice), Arcanine (Fire), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Jumpluff. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Cloyster is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Run Chlorophyll on Jumpluff. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Jumpluff also gets Leaf Guard and Infiltrator, but they don't compare.

  • In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Jumpluff fills the pivot role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 55 Attack). Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In HeartGold & SoulSilver, run Sleep Powder, Leech Seed, Substitute, and Stun Spore on Jumpluff. Sleep Powder is the most common pick at 21% usage. This set covers the pivot role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Jumpluff first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 16 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
