Stats & Training
Sigilyph's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Atk leads, Attack trails, 4 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Sp. Atk EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
They never vary the route they fly, because their memories of guarding an ancient city remain steadfast.
The guardians of an ancient city, they use their psychic power to attack enemies that invade their territory.
Sigilyph Weakness
Electric, Ice, Rock, Ghost, and Dark moves hit Sigilyph for super-effective damage. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Ice, Rock, Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Grass, Psychic |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ground |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Black & White Evolution
No evolution chain to worry about here. Sigilyph is a standalone Pokemon with a decent partner pool for breeding through one egg group. Eggs come out average hatch time. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed Sigilyph easily with 45 breeding partners from the Flying egg group. Pass egg moves like Ancient Power, Psycho Shift, Roost and 3 more to offspring.
Black & White Sigilyph Best Moveset
The recommended build leans into Sigilyph's strengths as a special attacker. Flame Orb provides self-burn for Guts activation, and max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs back that up. Magic Guard rounds out the package.
Best Build
Sigilyph best EVs are Sp. Atk and Speed
Special Attacker Moveset
- Roost
- Cosmic Power
- Stored Power

Recommended Teammates
Moves
Don't skip the egg moves. Sigilyph picks up Ancient Power and Psycho Shift only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Sky Attack and Synchronoise while coverage across 8 types adds range.

Best Locations to Catch Sigilyph in Black & White
Sigilyph Guide
In Black & White, Don't let Sigilyph's 490 base stat total fool you. Magic Guard is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as an attacker. Roost with Flame Orb is the standard set.
In Black & White, Run Magic Guard on Sigilyph. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Sigilyph also gets Wonder Skin and Tinted Lens, but they don't compare.
In Black & White, Sigilyph fills the attacker role. It's a special attacker with base 103 Sp. Atk. Base 97 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In Black & White, run Roost, Cosmicpower, Storedpower, and Psychoshift on Sigilyph. Roost is the most common pick at 15% usage. This set covers the attacker role with a mix of damage and utility.
Game Availability
Introduced in Black & White, Sigilyph has appeared in 7 games across 6 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
