Corsola Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Corsola isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Cursola to unlock its full potential. At 410 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • In Sword & Shield, Corsola's biggest threats include Gyarados (Water), Exeggutor (Grass), and Golem (Ground), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Ghost, Dark, and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Corsola won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Weak Armor is the go-to ability for Corsola. It raises Speed and lowers Defense by one stage each upon being hit by a physical move. Its hidden ability Cursed Body can work in specific setups.

  • In Sword & Shield, Corsola fills the balanced role. It's leaning toward the special side (base 65 Sp. Atk). Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Sword & Shield, Corsola does the job early-game if you need a Ghost/Rock type on your team. Evolve it into Cursola before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

Game Availability

Corsola first appeared in Gold & Silver and spans 17 games across 9 generations. It later gained a Galarian form in Generation 8, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
