Stats & Training
Clefable's spread isn't flashy. HP leads, Speed trails, 3 stats clear the bar. Very hard to catch and worth 3 HP EVs, on a fast 800K XP curve.
Rarely seen by people, it is said to be drawn by the full moon to play at deserted lakes.
Its hearing is so acute it can hear a pin drop over half a mile away. It lives on quiet mountains.
Clefable Weakness
Clefable is weak to Fighting. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. With 95 HP and balanced defenses, Clefable can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Diamond & Pearl Evolution
Clefable doesn't evolve through normal leveling. You'll need an evolution item to get here from Cleffa's line. Breed this form to get Cleffa eggs (quick to hatch). Evolving from Cleffa gave Clefable the biggest boost in Sp.Atk (+50), bringing the total to 483 stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

Diamond & Pearl Clefable Best Moveset
This is a pure walling set. Leftovers provides passive recovery each turn so Clefable sticks around, and the Careful nature reinforces special wall. Soft-Boiled handles sustain while Magic Guard does work passively.

Clefable Guide
In Diamond & Pearl, Don't let Clefable's 483 base stat total fool you. Magic Guard is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it B-Tier. Soft Boiled with Leftovers is the standard set.
In Diamond & Pearl, Clefable's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
In Diamond & Pearl, Run Magic Guard on Clefable. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Clefable also gets Cute Charm and Unaware, but they don't compare.
In Diamond & Pearl, Clefable fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 95 Sp. Atk. At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In Diamond & Pearl, Unaware is the hidden ability. It ignores other Pokémon's stat modifiers for damage and accuracy calculation. Worth hunting for if you want Clefable to compete at a higher level.
Game Availability
Clefable has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 22 titles across all 10 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
