Breeding's the move. Encore and Ingrain give Weepinbell options it can't learn any other way, and Normal and Dark coverage already covers a decent range on top of Solar Beam and Sludge Bomb. The egg moves push it further.

Weepinbell Guide

  • Weepinbell is meant to evolve into Victreebel. At 390 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Weepinbell's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Cloyster (Ice), and Dodrio (Flying), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Psychic-type attackers are also a problem.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Bellsprout evolves into Weepinbell at level 21. Weepinbell evolves into Victreebel using a Leaf Stone. Weepinbell is a middle-stage evolution in the Bellsprout line.

  • Chlorophyll is what you want on Weepinbell. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Gluttony) work on paper but Chlorophyll is what makes Weepinbell worth using.

  • At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Weepinbell is a mixed attacker with base 90 Attack and 85 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Fragile, can't afford to take many hits.

Game Availability

One of the original 151, Weepinbell has appeared in 20 games — most mainline games. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
