Abra Weakness

Abra's Psychic typing leaves it vulnerable to Bug, Ghost, and Dark. Abra's special bulk (base 55 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Moves

The natural movepool does the job, but Barrier and Encore from the egg pool give Abra something extra. Pair those with Dream Eater and Psychic for STAB and coverage across 8 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

Abra Guide

  • Kadabra at level 16 is the mid-stage. Push through to Alakazam by trading for the final form. 310 BST right now won't cut it long-term.

  • Level 16 gets you Kadabra. Quick enough that Abra barely slows you down.

  • In FireRed & LeafGreen, Abra does the job early-game if you need a Psychic type on your team. Evolve it into Kadabra before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

  • You can find Abra in FireRed & LeafGreen. The Locations section has the full breakdown of routes and encounter details. It also appears in 20 other games across the series.

Game Availability

Abra has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 21 titles across all 10 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
