TMs carry this one. Weepinbell learns Solar Beam and Razor Leaf naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Normal and beyond give it real matchup play.

Weepinbell Guide

  • Weepinbell is meant to evolve into Victreebel. At 390 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • In Red & Blue, Weepinbell's biggest threats include Scyther (Bug), Charizard (Fire), and Cloyster (Ice), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Scyther is the most dangerous since Bug moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Psychic-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Red & Blue, Bellsprout evolves into Weepinbell at level 21. Weepinbell evolves into Victreebel using a Leaf Stone. Weepinbell is a middle-stage evolution in the Bellsprout line.

  • At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Weepinbell is a mixed attacker with base 90 Attack and 85 Special. Defensively? Fragile, can't afford to take many hits.

  • For Red & Blue, you can run Weepinbell through the first few routes without issues. 390 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Victreebel as fast as you can.

Game Availability

One of the original 151, Weepinbell has appeared in 20 games — most mainline games. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
