Stats & Training

Seismitoad's spread is anchored by HP, with balanced defenses backing it up. Speed is the clear weak point. Worth 3 HP EVs per KO, and the 1.06M XP medium-slow curve keeps leveling painless.

The vibrating of the bumps all over its body causes earthquake-like tremors. Seismitoad and Croagunk are similar species.

Seismitoad Weakness

Grass moves hit Seismitoad for super-effective damage. Grass hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Electric-type moves can't touch it at all. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. With 105 HP and balanced defenses, Seismitoad can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Seismitoad Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Don't let Seismitoad's 509 base stat total fool you. Swift Swim is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier. Scald with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Sword & Shield, watch for Exeggutor (Grass) when using Seismitoad. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Exeggutor is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Sword & Shield, Run Swift Swim on Seismitoad. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Seismitoad also gets Poison Touch and Water Absorb, but they don't compare.

  • In Sword & Shield, Seismitoad fills the balanced role. It's a mixed attacker with base 95 Attack and 85 Sp. Atk. Base 74 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Sword & Shield, Seismitoad's hidden ability is Water Absorb. Absorbs water moves, healing for 1/4 max HP. Better than the standard options for competitive play.

Game Availability

Introduced in Black & White, Seismitoad has appeared in 8 games across 6 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
