With noises that could be mistaken for the rattles of maracas, it creates an upbeat rhythm, startling bird Pokémon and making them fly off in a hurry.

Maractus Weakness

Maractus is weak to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart.

Sword & Shield Maractus Best Moveset

For a defensive wall, Maractus wants max HP and Sp. Def EVs and Rocky Helmet. The Sassy nature tilts toward slow wall duty, and Stormdrain contributes without taking a move slot.

Leveling does the heavy lifting. Maractus picks up Petal Blizzard and Solar Beam along the way, building toward a complete offensive set. TMs add Flying and Dark coverage and more, but the foundation's already strong by then.

Maractus Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Chlorophyll changes the entire equation for Maractus. The 461 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as an attacker. Hypervoice with Rocky Helmet is the standard set.

  • In Sword & Shield, Maractus's biggest threats include Arcanine (Fire), Walrein (Ice), and Crobat (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Chlorophyll is what you want on Maractus. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Water Absorb, Storm Drain) work on paper but Chlorophyll is what makes Maractus worth using.

  • At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Maractus is leaning toward the special side (base 106 Sp. Atk). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as an attacker.

  • For Sword & Shield, the core moveset is Hypervoice, Knock Off, Cottonguard, and Giga Drain. Hypervoice leads at 17% usage. This set covers the attacker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Maractus joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 7 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
