Marill is the middle stage between Azurill and Azumarill. It's a three-stage line with one more evolution to go. For breeding, quick to hatch with a decent partner pool via two egg groups.   • Get Marill to Azumarill at level 18. At 250 BST, Marill is just the starting point.

  • Level 18 gets you Azumarill. Quick enough that Marill barely slows you down.

  • In X & Y, Marill does the job early-game if you need a Water/Fairy type on your team. Evolve it into Azumarill before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
