Stats & Training
Speed and Attack carry most of Aipom's stat budget. Sp. Atk's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 1 Speed stat exp. Follows a fast 800K XP curve.
It uses its tail to hang on to tree branches. It uses its momentum to swing from one branch to another.
Aipom Weakness
Type-wise, Aipom takes extra damage from Fighting. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Just 1 weak spot to worry about, which keeps teambuilding straightforward.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def

Aipom Guide
Aipom is meant to evolve into Ambipom. At 360 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
In Crystal, Aipom's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Base 85 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Aipom is a physical attacker with base 70 Attack. Defensively? Fragile, can't afford to take many hits.
For Crystal, you can run Aipom through the first few routes without issues. 360 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Ambipom as fast as you can.
For Crystal, the core moveset is Return, Agility, Baton Pass, and Shadow Ball. Return leads at 25% usage. Return provides reliable STAB damage. Agility lets it set up before sweeping.
Game Availability
Available in 17 titles since its debut in Gold & Silver, Aipom spans 9 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through catching or hatching as a base form in most mainline games.
