Sp. Atk and HP carry most of Exeggutor's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 2 Sp. Atk EVs. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
Its three heads think independently. However, they are friendly and never appear to squabble.
It is called “The Walking Jungle.” If a head grows too big, it falls off and becomes an Exeggcute.
Exeggutor Weakness
Exeggutor's Grass/Psychic typing leaves it vulnerable to Bug, Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, Ghost, and Dark. Bug hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong.

Chlorophyll isn't flashy, but it matters. Combined with Sitrus Berry for a one-time health recovery at low HP and max HP and Sp. Atk EVs, Exeggutor fills the special attacker slot reliably. Modest nature finishes the spread.

In X & Y, Chlorophyll changes the entire equation for Exeggutor. The 530 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Psychic with Sitrus Berry is the standard set.
In X & Y, watch for Pinsir (Bug), Arcanine (Fire), and Lapras (Ice) when using Exeggutor. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Pinsir is the most dangerous since Bug moves deal 4x damage. Poison, Flying, Ghost, and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 7 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Chlorophyll is what you want on Exeggutor. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Harvest) work on paper but Chlorophyll is what makes Exeggutor worth using.
At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Exeggutor is a special attacker with base 125 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.
In X & Y, run Psychic, Trickroom, Leaf Storm, and Protect on Exeggutor. Psychic is the most common pick at 24% usage. Psychic provides reliable STAB damage.

Since debuting in Red & Blue, Exeggutor has appeared in 20 titles over 10 generations. Along the way, it received an Alolan form in Generation 7, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
