Stats & Training
The stat bars tell the story: Defense carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Coffin Pokemon still yields 2 Defense EVs per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It has been said that they swallow those who get too close and turn them into mummies. They like to eat gold nuggets.
Grave robbers who mistake them for real coffins and get too close end up trapped inside their bodies.
Cofagrigus Weakness
Cofagrigus's Ghost typing leaves it vulnerable to Ghost and Dark. It shrugs off Normal and Fighting-type attacks completely. Cofagrigus's physical bulk (base 145 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Poison, Bug |
| 0x (Immune) | Normal, Fighting |

X & Y Cofagrigus Best Moveset
Toxic Spikes is the priority every time Cofagrigus comes in. Bold nature and max HP and Defense EVs keep it alive long enough to get layers down, while Leftovers provides passive recovery each turn. Mummy rounds it out.

How to Get Cofagrigus in X & Y
Cofagrigus Guide
In X & Y, Cofagrigus works as a trick room with 483 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid option in X & Y for the right team. Will O Wisp with Leftovers is the standard set.
In X & Y, watch for Chandelure (Ghost) and Hydreigon (Dark) when using Cofagrigus. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 30 Speed, Cofagrigus won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Mummy changes attacking Pokémon's abilities to Mummy on contact. That's the one you want on Cofagrigus. It's the only ability Cofagrigus has.
Cofagrigus is a special attacker with base 95 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the trick room role.
In X & Y, run Will O Wisp, Toxic Spikes, Painsplit, and Hex on Cofagrigus. Will O Wisp is the most common pick at 24% usage. Hex provides reliable STAB damage.
