Stats & Training
Nothing fancy in Weezing's spread. It leans mixed with Defense out front. And you'll get 2 Defense EVs per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It grows by feeding on gases released by garbage. Though very rare, triplets have been found.

Weezing Weakness
Type-wise, Weezing takes extra damage from Ground and Psychic. The Poison typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Levitate grants an additional Ground immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Weezing's physical bulk (base 120 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Ground, Psychic |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Grass, Fighting, Poison, Bug |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Weezing Guide
In Diamond & Pearl, Weezing looks average on paper at 490 BST. But Levitate is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier on our tier list. Will O Wisp with Black Sludge is the standard set.
Weezing gets Levitate, Neutralizing Gas, and Stench. But Levitate is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Weezing is a special attacker with base 85 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often.
For Diamond & Pearl, the core moveset is Will O Wisp, Flamethrower, Painsplit, and Thunderbolt. Will O Wisp leads at 23% usage. This set covers the balanced role with a mix of damage and utility.
