Diamond & Pearl Solrock Best Moveset

The Sash lets Solrock ignore defensive shortcomings for one turn. Use that turn to deal early damage, and Levitate squeezes extra value from the position. Max HP and Attack EVs push damage output.

Moves

Most of Solrock's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Dream Eater and Stone Edge, but Normal and Fire and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

Solrock Guide

  • In Diamond & Pearl, Solrock's biggest threats include Swampert (Water), Venusaur (Grass), and Rhydon (Ground), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Bug, Ghost, Dark, and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 7 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Diamond & Pearl, Solrock can work for a story run. 440 BST is average, but Rock/Psychic typing fills a niche depending on your team composition.

  • In Diamond & Pearl, Solrock looks average on paper at 440 BST. But Levitate is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier on our tier list. Explosion with Focus Sash is the standard set.

  • Solrock gets Levitate. But Levitate is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Rock/Psychic gives Solrock 5 resistances. Attack is the best stat at base 95. Dual typing means STAB coverage on both Rock and Psychic moves.

Game Availability

Debuting in Ruby & Sapphire, Solrock appears in 14 games across 8 generations. A reliable presence in a solid number of games, typically found through wild encounters.
