Stats & Training

Everything pushes toward physical damage here. Unfezant's Attack does the work, Sp. Def pays the price. But you're still getting 3 Attack EVs per KO. Tough to catch, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

Unfezant Weakness

Electric, Ice, and Rock moves hit Unfezant for super-effective damage. The upside? Ground and Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all. Unfezant's physical bulk (base 80 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

X & Y Unfezant Best Moveset

You commit to a move every time Unfezant comes in. Choice Band gives raw power at the cost of move flexibility, and Superluck adds to that. Max HP and Attack EVs make sure the locked move actually hurts. The remaining moves covers the rest.

Moves

Don't skip the egg moves. Unfezant picks up Bestow and Hypnosis only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Giga Impact and Hyper Beam while Steel and Bug coverage adds range.

Unfezant Guide

  • In X & Y, Unfezant works as a wallbreaker with 488 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in X & Y's meta. Steelwing with Choice Band is the standard set.

  • In X & Y, watch for Raikou (Electric), Walrein (Ice), and Rhyperior (Rock) when using Unfezant. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB.

  • Big Pecks protects against Defense drops. That's the one you want on Unfezant. Rivalry is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Super Luck works too if your team needs something different.

  • Unfezant is a physical attacker with base 115 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 93 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. Fits the wallbreaker role.

  • In X & Y, run Steelwing, Skyattack, Quickattack, and U Turn on Unfezant. Steelwing is the most common pick at 22% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Since Black & White, Unfezant has been obtainable in 7 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Unfezant has appeared steadily across every generation since.
