Stats & Training
Pelipper's spread isn't flashy. Defense leads, Attack trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Defense EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It dips its large bill in the sea, then scoops up numerous prey along with water.
It is a messenger of the skies, carrying small Pokémon and eggs to safety in its bill.
Pelipper Weakness
Pelipper's Water/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric and Rock. Electric hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely. It resists 5 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Pelipper's physical bulk (base 100 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Electric |
| 2x (Weak) | Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Fighting, Bug, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Ground |
In X & Y, Zapdos can KO Pelipper with Thunderbolt (195-230%). Tyranitar threatens a KO with Stone Edge (129-152%).

How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Pelipper to get Wingull eggs easily using 51 partners from the Flying and Water1 egg groups. Notable egg moves include Agility, Aqua Ring, Brine and 8 more.
X & Y Pelipper Best Moveset
Raindish helps Pelipper stick around while dealing real damage. Leftovers for passive recovery each turn, max HP and Sp. Atk EVs for the right balance, and Scald as the main threat. Not the fastest, but it doesn't need to be.

Moves
The natural movepool does the job, but Agility and Aqua Ring from the egg pool give Pelipper something extra. Pair those with Hydro Pump and Hurricane for STAB and coverage across 8 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

Pelipper Guide
In X & Y, Wingull evolves into Pelipper at level 25. Pelipper is the fully evolved form. It sits at 440 BST in its evolved form.
For X & Y, it depends on your team. Pelipper at 440 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Water/Flying coverage might be exactly what you're missing.
In X & Y, Don't let Pelipper's 440 base stat total fool you. Drizzle is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier. Roost with Leftovers is the standard set.
In X & Y, Run Drizzle on Pelipper. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Pelipper also gets Keen Eye and Rain Dish, but they don't compare.
Game Availability
Pelipper first appeared in Ruby & Sapphire and has been available in 16 games across 8 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
