Sunflora Guide

  • In Scarlet & Violet, Sunflora's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Cloyster (Ice), and Crobat (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Sunflora won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • In Scarlet & Violet, Sunkern evolves into Sunflora using a Sun Stone. Sunflora is the fully evolved form. It sits at 425 BST in its evolved form.

  • In Scarlet & Violet, Sunflora can work for a story run. 425 BST is average, but Grass typing fills a niche depending on your team composition.

  • In Scarlet & Violet, Don't let Sunflora's 425 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as an attacker. Earthpower with Bigroot is the standard set.

  • In Scarlet & Violet, Run Chlorophyll on Sunflora. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Sunflora also gets Solar Power and Early Bird, but they don't compare.

Game Availability

Sunflora has been available in 16 games since Gold & Silver, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
