Stats & Training
The stat line revolves around HP. Percentage recovery gets extra mileage here. Sp. Atk backs it up, though Speed doesn't pull its weight. Worth 2 HP EVs on a standard growth curve to max out.
It blasts its opponents with massive amounts of sweet, sticky nectar, drowning them under the deluge.
Due to Gigantamax energy, this Pokémon’s nectar has thickened. The increased viscosity lets the nectar absorb more damage than before.
Appletun Weakness
Type-wise, Appletun takes extra damage from Ice, Poison, Flying, Bug, Dragon, and Fairy. Watch out for Ice attacks, those deal 4x damage. The Grass/Dragon typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.

Appletun Guide
In Sword & Shield, Appletun looks average on paper at 485 BST. But Thick Fat is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier support on our tier list. Appleacid with Ganlonberry is the standard set.
In Sword & Shield, Appletun's biggest threats include Walrein (Ice), Crobat (Poison), and Staraptor (Flying), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Walrein is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Bug, Dragon, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Appletun won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Appletun gets Thick Fat, Ripen, and Gluttony. But Thick Fat is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Appletun is leaning toward the special side (base 100 Sp. Atk). Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the support role.
For Sword & Shield, the core moveset is Appleacid, Leech Seed, Safeguard, and Bodypress. Appleacid leads at 23% usage. This set covers the support role with a mix of damage and utility.
