Bulky pincers account for one third of Scizor’s body weight. A single swing of one of these pincers will crush a boulder completely.

Scizor Weakness

Scizor is weak to Fire. Watch out for Fire attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. It resists 8 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. With 70 HP and balanced defenses, Scizor can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Egg moves make a real difference. Scizor gets Counter and Defog exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Coverage across 7 types rounds out the picture alongside Bug Buzz and Iron Head.

Scizor Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Scizor looks average on paper at 500 BST. But Technician is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. A-Tier wallbreaker on our tier list. Bullet Punch with Heavy-Duty Boots is the standard set.

  • Mega Evolution isn't available in Sword & Shield, but Scizor does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Scizor hits 600 BST.

  • In Sword & Shield, Scizor's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Charizard is the most dangerous since Fire moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Scizor gets Technician, Swarm, and Light Metal. But Technician is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. On wall sets, Technician pairs with Scizor's base 100 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.

  • Scizor is a physical attacker with base 130 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the wallbreaker role.

Game Availability

Available since Gold & Silver, Scizor appears in 19 games spanning 9 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 7.
