Jolteon Weakness

Jolteon's Electric typing leaves it vulnerable to Ground. Its Electric typing keeps the defensive matchups simple. Jolteon's special bulk (base 110 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Jolteon Guide

  • In Yellow, Jolteon has a 540 base stat total and ranks as A-Tier: a strong pick in Yellow's competitive scene. It works best as a sweeper. Thunderbolt anchors the moveset.

  • In Yellow, watch for Rhydon (Ground) when using Jolteon. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Yellow, Jolteon fills the sweeper role. It's a special attacker with base 110 Special. Base 130 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Yellow, Jolteon has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.

  • In Yellow, run Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Doublekick, and Pin Missile on Jolteon. Thunderbolt is the most common pick at 24% usage. Thunderbolt provides reliable STAB damage.

Game Availability

Jolteon has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 22 titles across all 10 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
