Yellow

Snorlax Weakness

Snorlax's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Snorlax's overall bulk (160/65/65) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Snorlax's coverage across 9 types all comes from technical machines, built on top of Self-Destruct and Hyper Beam for same-type damage. Double-Edge and Hyper Beam are the payoff moves.

Snorlax Guide

  • In Yellow, Snorlax works as a support with 495 BST behind it. S-Tier on our list: one of the best picks in the Yellow meta. Body Slam anchors the moveset.

  • In Yellow, watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Snorlax. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 30 Speed, Snorlax won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Snorlax is a physical attacker with base 110 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the support role.

  • For Yellow, Snorlax has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Fighting-type attackers hit hardest.

  • In Yellow, run Body Slam, Rest, Self Destruct, and Earthquake on Snorlax. Body Slam is the most common pick at 23% usage. This set covers the support role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Available since Red & Blue, Snorlax appears in 21 games spanning 10 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Gigantamax form in Generation 8.
