Gallade Weakness

Gallade's Psychic/Fighting typing leaves it vulnerable to Flying, Ghost, and Fairy. Gallade's special bulk (base 115 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Sun & Moon Gallade Best Moveset

Gallade doesn't rely on pure speed. Assault Vest gives it a special bulk boost with no status moves allowed to stay healthy, and Adamant nature still pushes offense. Close Combat and Ground coverage keep the pressure on while spread EVs balance power and survivability.

STAB runs through Close Combat and Focus Blast for the basics, but Gallade's real strength is the 11-type coverage spread. Grass and Dark hit common defensive types, and the movepool keeps going.

How to Get Gallade in Sun & Moon

Gallade isn't available in the wild in Sun & Moon. Start by transferring Ralts from Ruby, Emerald, or Sword. The evolution path from Ralts to Gallade is covered in the steps below.

Gallade Guide

  • For Sun & Moon, we rate Gallade C-Tier: a niche pick in Sun & Moon's meta. At 518 BST, it fits the wallbreaker role. Close Combat with Assault Vest is the standard set.

  • In Sun & Moon, Gallade can Mega Evolve into Mega Gallade. That's 618 BST, up from 518. The stat redistribution often changes its best role. Mega Stone required, one per battle.

  • In Sun & Moon, watch for Staraptor (Flying), Dusknoir (Ghost), and Clefable (Fairy) when using Gallade. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB.

  • Steadfast raises Speed one stage upon flinching. That's the one you want on Gallade. Justified is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Sharpness works too if your team needs something different.

  • Base 80 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Gallade is a physical attacker with base 125 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.

Game Availability

Since debuting in Diamond & Pearl, Gallade has appeared in 14 titles over 7 generations. Along the way, it received a Mega form in Generation 6, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
