Flareon Weakness

Flareon is weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Flareon's special bulk (base 110 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Moves

Leveling does the heavy lifting. Flareon picks up Flamethrower and Double-Edge along the way, building toward a complete offensive set. TMs add Normal and Dark coverage, but the foundation's already strong by then.

Flareon Guide

  • For Yellow, we rate Flareon C-Tier: a niche pick in Yellow's meta. At 540 BST, it fits the wallbreaker role. Body Slam anchors the moveset.

  • In Yellow, Flareon's biggest threats include Gyarados (Water), Rhydon (Ground), and Golem (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Flareon is a special attacker with base 110 Special. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.

  • For Yellow, the core moveset is Body Slam, Hyper Beam, Fire Blast, and Quickattack. Body Slam leads at 21% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.

  • In Yellow, the best way to handle Flareon: Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Special attackers bypass its physical bulk.

Game Availability

One of the original 151, Flareon has appeared in 22 games — nearly every mainline game. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
