FLAREON’s fluffy fur releases heat into the air so that its body does not get excessively hot. Its body temperature can rise to a maximum of 1,650 degrees F.

Emerald

Flareon Weakness

Flareon is weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Flash Fire grants an additional Fire immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Flareon's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Flareon Guide

  • In Emerald, Flash Fire changes the entire equation for Flareon. The 525 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Shadow Ball with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Emerald, Flareon's biggest threats include Gyarados (Water), Rhydon (Ground), and Golem (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • Flash Fire is what you want on Flareon. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Guts) work on paper but Flash Fire is what makes Flareon worth using. Flash Fire synergizes with Flareon's base 110 Sp.Def, letting it soak special attacks as a pivot.

  • At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Flareon is a special attacker with base 95 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.

  • For Emerald, the core moveset is Shadow Ball, Overheat, Wish, and Toxic. Shadow Ball leads at 15% usage. Overheat provides reliable STAB damage.

Game Availability

One of the original 151, Flareon has appeared in 22 games — nearly every mainline game. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
