Stats & Training
Attack and Sp. Atk carry most of Decidueye's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 3 Attack EVs. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
As if wielding a bow, it launches the arrow quills hidden among the feathers of its wings. Decidueye’s shots never miss.
In a tenth of a second, it can nock and fire an arrow quill, piercing an opponent’s weak point before they notice what’s happening.
Decidueye Weakness
Decidueye is weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, Ghost, and Dark. On the flip side, it's immune to Normal and Fighting-type moves entirely. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Decidueye's special bulk (base 100 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Ice, Flying, Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water, Electric, Grass, Ground |
| 0x (Immune) | Normal, Fighting |
In Sword & Shield, Celesteela's Air Slash hits Decidueye for 66-78%. Weavile deals 72-84% with Knock Off.

Sword & Shield Evolution
End of the line. Decidueye caps a three-stage chain that started at Rowlet. Breeding produces the base form, and eggs are quick to hatch. Attack grew the most through evolution (+52 over Rowlet), and Decidueye peaks at 530 total stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Decidueye to get Rowlet eggs using 42 partners from the Flying egg group. Notable egg moves include Confuse Ray, Defog, Double Team and 1 more.
Sword & Shield Decidueye Best Moveset
For a physical attacker, Decidueye wants max HP and Attack EVs and Decidiumz. The Adamant nature tilts toward physical duty, and Overgrow contributes without taking a move slot.

How to Obtain Decidueye in Sword & Shield
Decidueye Guide
For Sword & Shield, we rate Decidueye C-Tier: a niche pick in Sword & Shield's meta. At 530 BST, it fits the attacker role. Spiritshackle with Decidiumz is the standard set.
Overgrow is the go-to ability for Decidueye. It strengthens grass moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Long Reach can work in specific setups.
Base 70 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Decidueye is a mixed attacker with base 107 Attack and 100 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as an attacker.
In Sword & Shield, the best way to handle Decidueye: Faster attackers outpace it. Anything with a super-effective STAB move and decent speed can revenge kill.
Game Availability
Since debuting in Sun & Moon, Decidueye has appeared in 5 titles over 4 generations. Along the way, it received a Hisuian form in Generation 8, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
