A bit of a dandy, it spends its free time preening its wings. Its preoccupation with any dirt on its plumage can leave it unable to battle.

Dartrix Weakness

Dartrix's Grass/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely.

Moves

You'll want to breed for Baton Pass and Confuse Ray on Dartrix. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Brave Bird and Solar Beam, they expand what Dartrix can actually threaten in practice.

How to Get Dartrix in Sun & Moon

Dartrix Guide

  • In Sun & Moon, Dartrix isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Decidueye to unlock its full potential. At 420 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • In Sun & Moon, watch for Weavile (Ice), Infernape (Fire), and Salazzle (Poison) when using Dartrix. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Weavile is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Sun & Moon, Rowlet evolves into Dartrix at level 17. Dartrix can evolve into Decidueye and Hisuian Decidueye depending on the method. Dartrix is a middle-stage evolution in the Rowlet line.

  • Overgrow strengthens grass moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Dartrix. Long Reach is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • In Sun & Moon, Dartrix fills the balanced role. It's a mixed attacker with base 75 Attack and 70 Sp. Atk. At base 52 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

Game Availability

Introduced in Sun & Moon, Dartrix has appeared in 5 games across 4 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
