Stats & Training
Beautifly's built around special offense. Sp. Atk leads the charge, Defense pays for it. Tough to catch, worth 3 Sp. Atk EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It has an aggressive nature. It stabs prey with its long, narrow mouth to drain the prey’s fluids.
When flower fields bloom, it flits around, collecting pollen. Despite its appearance, it is savage.
Beautifly Weakness
Beautifly's Bug/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Rock, Fire, Electric, Ice, and Flying. Rock hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Rock |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Electric, Ice, Flying |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Bug |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass, Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ground |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Beautifly Guide
In Diamond & Pearl, watch for Golem (Rock), Charizard (Fire), and Raikou (Electric) when using Beautifly. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Golem is the most dangerous since Rock moves deal 4x damage. Ice and Flying-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
In Diamond & Pearl, Beautifly has niche appeal at best. 395 base stats means you're fighting uphill by mid-game. There are better Bug/Flying Pokemon available.
In Diamond & Pearl, Beautifly has a 395 base stat total and ranks as D-Tier: outclassed by other options available in Diamond & Pearl. It works best as an attacker. Base 100 Sp. Atk is where it shines.
Swarm strengthens bug moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Beautifly. Rivalry is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Game Availability
Beautifly first appeared in Ruby & Sapphire and has been available in 14 games across 8 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
