Stats & Training
Beautifly's built around special offense. Sp. Atk leads the charge, Defense pays for it. Tough to catch, worth 3 Sp. Atk EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Vibrantly patterned wings are its prominent feature. It sucks sweet flower nectar with its long mouth.
It has an aggressive nature. It stabs prey with its long, narrow mouth to drain the prey’s fluids.
Beautifly Weakness
Beautifly's Bug/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Rock, Fire, Electric, Ice, and Flying. Rock hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Rock |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Electric, Ice, Flying |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Bug |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass, Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ground |
In X & Y, Weavile can KO Beautifly with Ice Shard (99-117%). Zapdos's Thunderbolt also KOs at 126-148%.

How to Evolve
X & Y Beautifly Best Moveset
One boost from Quiver Dance and Beautifly gets dangerous fast. The Timid nature targets max HP and Speed, and Swarm backs the whole approach. Aircutter and the remaining moves handle most of what's left standing.

Without TMs, Beautifly's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get coverage across 7 types on top of Bug Buzz and U-turn for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

How to Get Beautifly in X & Y
No wild encounters for Beautifly in X & Y. Bring Wurmple over from Ruby, Emerald, or Diamond, then level through the stages. Each step in the chain is laid out below.
Beautifly Guide
In X & Y, watch for Golem (Rock), Charizard (Fire), and Raikou (Electric) when using Beautifly. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Golem is the most dangerous since Rock moves deal 4x damage. Ice and Flying-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
In X & Y, Beautifly has niche appeal at best. 395 base stats means you're fighting uphill by mid-game. There are better Bug/Flying Pokemon available.
In X & Y, Beautifly has a 395 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier: a niche pick in X & Y's meta. It works best as an attacker. Aircutter with Focus Sash is the standard set.
Swarm strengthens bug moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Beautifly. Rivalry is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
