Araquanid Weakness

Araquanid is weak to Electric, Flying, and Rock. The Water/Bug typing picks up 5 resistances to work with. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Araquanid's special bulk (base 132 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Araquanid Guide

  • In Sword & Shield, Araquanid looks average on paper at 454 BST. But Water Absorb is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier on our tier list. Sticky Web with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Sword & Shield, Araquanid's biggest threats include Jolteon (Electric), Staraptor (Flying), and Terrakion (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • Araquanid gets Water Absorb and Water Bubble. But Water Absorb is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Araquanid is a physical attacker with base 70 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 42 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • For Sword & Shield, the core moveset is Sticky Web, Liquidation, Entrainment, and Safeguard. Sticky Web leads at 24% usage. Liquidation provides reliable STAB damage.

Game Availability

Since Sun & Moon, Araquanid has been obtainable in 4 games. A Generation 7 debut means a shorter history, but Araquanid has appeared steadily across every generation since.
