Is Skeledirge Good in Scarlet & Violet Playthrough?
Fire/Ghost Skeledirge is the bulkiest of the three final starters. Torch Song raises Special Attack with every use, turning Skeledirge into a stronger threat each turn. Ghost typing gives Normal and Fighting immunity. Handles Katy's Bug gym, Brassius's Grass gym, and Ryme's Ghost gym. The longer a fight goes, the harder Skeledirge hits.
Fuecoco has the type edge here and should clean up Katy's team.
Fuecoco trades roughly evenly with Brassius's team.
Crocalor trades roughly evenly with Iono's team.
Crocalor trades roughly evenly with Kofu's team.
Crocalor trades roughly evenly with Larry's team.
Skeledirge has the type edge here and should clean up Ryme's team.
Skeledirge has the type edge here and should clean up Tulip's team.
Skeledirge has the type edge here and should clean up Grusha's team.
Skeledirge trades roughly evenly with Rika's team.
Skeledirge resists most of Poppy's coverage and hits back hard.
Skeledirge trades roughly evenly with Larry's team.
Skeledirge trades roughly evenly with Hassel's team.
Skeledirge has the type edge here and should clean up Geeta's team.
Fuecoco is available as a starter.
Your Fuecoco should hit Level 16 before you reach Iono, at typical leveling pace.
Your Crocalor should hit Level 36 before you reach Ryme, at typical leveling pace.
How to Get Skeledirge in Scarlet & Violet
You're catching Fuecoco first, not Skeledirge. Fuecoco appears at moderate rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 3-stage chain with evolution methods between each stage.
Skeledirge Weakness
Skeledirge's Fire/Ghost typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Ground, Rock, Ghost, and Dark. It shrugs off Normal and Fighting-type attacks completely. It resists 7 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Skeledirge's physical bulk (base 100 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Grass, Ice, Poison, Steel, Fairy |

The natural movepool does the job, but Belch and Curse from the egg pool give Skeledirge something extra. Pair those with Blast Burn and Overheat for STAB and coverage across 9 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

The fiery bird changes shape when Skeledirge sings. Rumor has it that the bird was born when the fireball on Skeledirge’s head gained a soul.
Skeledirge’s gentle singing soothes the souls of all that hear it. It burns its enemies to a crisp with flames of over 5,400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Skeledirge Scarlet & Violet Guide
In Scarlet & Violet, Skeledirge looks average on paper at 530 BST. But Unaware is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier tank on our tier list. Torchsong with Heavy-Duty Boots is the standard set.
In Scarlet & Violet, watch for Urshifu (Water), Golem (Ground), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Skeledirge. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Ghost and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Skeledirge gets Unaware and Blaze. But Unaware is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Skeledirge is a special attacker with base 110 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 66 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the tank role.
In Scarlet & Violet, run Torchsong, Slack Off, Will O Wisp, and Hex on Skeledirge. Torchsong is the most common pick at 0% usage. Hex provides reliable STAB damage.
