Is Quaquaval Good in Scarlet & Violet Playthrough?

Water/Fighting Quaquaval brings high Attack and Speed with Moxie boosting Attack after every KO. The snowball potential is real. Handles Larry's Normal gym, Giacomo's Dark Team Star, and Grusha's Ice gym (Fighting coverage). Aqua Step raises Speed when it hits, making Quaquaval faster with every successful attack.

Pokedex Entry

A single kick from a Quaquaval can send a truck rolling. This Pokémon uses its powerful legs to perform striking dances from far-off lands.

Dancing in ways that evoke far-away places, this Pokémon mesmerizes all that see it. Flourishes of its decorative water feathers slice into its foes.

Quaquaval Scarlet & Violet Guide

  • In Scarlet & Violet, Quaquaval works as a wallbreaker with 530 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid option in Scarlet & Violet for the right team. Aquastep with Assault Vest is the standard set.

  • In Scarlet & Violet, Quaquaval's biggest threats include Manectric (Electric), Roserade (Grass), and Braviary (Flying), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Psychic and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Torrent is the go-to ability for Quaquaval. It strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Moxie can work in specific setups.

  • Quaquaval is a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 85 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. Fits the wallbreaker role.

  • For Scarlet & Violet, the core moveset is Aquastep, Close Combat, Rapid Spin, and Icespinner. Aquastep leads at 0% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Since Scarlet & Violet, Quaquaval has been obtainable in 1 games. A Generation 9 debut means a shorter history, but Quaquaval has appeared steadily across every generation since.
