This nuisance sneaks into people’s homes, where it hides important things and scatters cotton all over the place.

Whimsicott Weakness

Whimsicott's Grass/Fairy typing leaves it vulnerable to Poison, Fire, Ice, Flying, and Steel. Poison hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Dragon-type attacks completely. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong.

Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Whimsicott Best Moveset

One guaranteed turn is all Whimsicott needs. Focus Sash buys it, max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs make it count, and Prankster adds something extra. The goal: deal early damage and deal damage with Moonblast. Utility options gives it play beyond just the lead turn.

Whimsicott Guide

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Prankster changes the entire equation for Whimsicott. The 480 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as a pivot. Tailwind with Focus Sash is the standard set.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, watch for Roserade (Poison), Blaziken (Fire), and Weavile (Ice) when using Whimsicott. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Roserade is the most dangerous since Poison moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Prankster is what you want on Whimsicott. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Infiltrator, Chlorophyll) work on paper but Prankster is what makes Whimsicott worth using.

  • Base 116 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Whimsicott is a special attacker with base 77 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a pivot.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Whimsicott's hidden ability is Chlorophyll. Doubles Speed during strong sunlight. Better than the standard options for competitive play.

Game Availability

Whimsicott joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 6 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
