Stats & Training
Nothing fancy in Tauros's spread. It leans physical with Speed out front. And you'll get 2 Attack and Speed stat exp per KO for it. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
They fight each other by locking horns. The herd’s protector takes pride in its battle-scarred horns.
After heightening its will to fight by whipping itself with its three tails, it charges at full speed.
Tauros Weakness
Tauros is weak to Fighting. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. Tauros's physical bulk (base 95 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def

Moves
Most of Tauros's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Hyper Beam and Thrash, but Dark and Ice and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

Tauros Guide
In Gold & Silver, Tauros works as a setup sweeper with 490 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in Gold & Silver's meta. Earthquake with Leftovers is the standard set.
In Gold & Silver, Tauros's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Tauros is a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the setup sweeper role.
For Gold & Silver, the core moveset is Earthquake, Double Edge, Rest, and Sleep Talk. Earthquake leads at 24% usage. This set covers the setup sweeper role with a mix of damage and utility.
In Gold & Silver, the best way to handle Tauros: Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.
