Once it takes aim at its prey, it makes a headlong charge. It is famous for its violent nature.

Tauros Weakness

Tauros is weak to Fighting. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. Tauros's physical bulk (base 95 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Tauros Best Moveset

Jolly nature gives Tauros the fast physical lean it needs to trade hits effectively. Assault Vest adds a special bulk boost with no status moves allowed, max Attack and Speed EVs split the difference, and Ground coverage punishes anything trying to wall it.

Tauros Guide

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Tauros looks average on paper at 490 BST. But Intimidate is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier sweeper on our tier list. Earthquake with Assault Vest is the standard set.

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Tauros's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Tauros gets Intimidate, Anger Point, and Sheer Force. But Intimidate is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. With base 110 Speed, Intimidate gives Tauros an edge before opponents can react.

  • Tauros is a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • For Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, the core moveset is Earthquake, Close Combat, Body Slam, and Ironhead. Earthquake leads at 25% usage. This set covers the sweeper role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Available since Red & Blue, Tauros appears in 20 games spanning 10 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Paldean form in Generation 9.
