Stats & Training
Attack leads and Sp. Atk gets almost nothing. That's Hitmonlee's stat line in a nutshell. 3 stats sit in respectable range, but the spread is brutal. Tough to catch and yields 2 Attack stat exp.
This amazing POKéMON has an awesome sense of balance. It can kick in succession from any position.
If it starts kicking repeatedly, both legs will stretch even longer to strike a fleeing foe.
Hitmonlee Weakness
Type-wise, Hitmonlee takes extra damage from Flying and Psychic. Few weaknesses and 3 resistances make the typing clean. Hitmonlee's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Flying, Psychic |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Bug, Rock, Dark |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def
In Gold & Silver, Skarmory can KO Hitmonlee with Drill Peck (99-117%). Jynx threatens a KO with Psychic (85-100%).

Hitmonlee Guide
For Gold & Silver, we rate Hitmonlee C-Tier: a niche pick in Gold & Silver's meta. At 455 BST, it fits the support role. High Jump Kick with Leftovers is the standard set.
Base 87 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Hitmonlee is a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a support.
In Gold & Silver, the best way to handle Hitmonlee: Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Flying and Psychic-type attackers hit hardest.
In Gold & Silver, Hitmonlee plays as a support. Speed is middling, so pick your spots carefully.
