Stats & Training
Tangrowth's spread isn't flashy. Defense leads, Sp. Def trails, 4 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Defense EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Draped with long vines, it resembles a shrub in appearance. It swings bundles of vines as though they were arms, wrapping them around prey to ensnare them.
Tangrowth Weakness
Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug moves hit Tangrowth for super-effective damage. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Tangrowth's physical bulk (base 125 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

How to Get Tangrowth in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon
Tangrowth can't be caught in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Transfer Tangela from Red, Yellow, or Black 2 and evolve through the 2-stage line to get it. The step cards below map the full chain.
Tangrowth Guide
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Don't let Tangrowth's 535 base stat total fool you. Regenerator is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it B-Tier as a tank. Giga Drain with Assault Vest is the standard set.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Run Regenerator on Tangrowth. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Tangrowth also gets Chlorophyll and Leaf Guard, but they don't compare.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Tangrowth fills the tank role. It's a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, run Giga Drain, Knock Off, Earthquake, and Hiddenpowerice on Tangrowth. Giga Drain is the most common pick at 21% usage. This set covers the tank role with a mix of damage and utility.
