Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Serperior Best Moveset

Bulk and offense in one package. Serperior runs Leftovers for passive recovery each turn with a Timid nature, so it survives long enough to threaten with Leaf Storm. Max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs and utility options make it hard to safely switch into.

Moves

Don't skip the egg moves. Serperior picks up Captivate and Glare only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Frenzy Plant and Leaf Storm while coverage across 8 types adds range.

How to Get Serperior in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

Serperior isn't available in the wild in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Start by transferring Snivy from Black, Black 2, or Omega Ruby. The evolution path from Snivy to Serperior is covered in the steps below.

Serperior Guide

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Serperior looks average on paper at 528 BST. But Contrary is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. B-Tier pivot on our tier list. Leaf Storm with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, watch for Blaziken (Fire), Weavile (Ice), and Roserade (Poison) when using Serperior. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Serperior gets Contrary and Overgrow. But Contrary is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Serperior is leaning toward the physical side (base 75 Attack). Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 113 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the pivot role.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Serperior's hidden ability is Contrary. Inverts stat changes. Better than the standard options for competitive play.

Game Availability

Since Black & White, Serperior has been obtainable in 7 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Serperior has appeared steadily across every generation since.
