Stats & Training
Bulk defines Sealeo's stat line. HP and Sp. Atk anchor the defensive side, but Speed can't keep up offensively. Common in the wild and worth 2 HP EVs.
SEALEO has the habit of always juggling on the tip of its nose anything it sees for the first time. This POKéMON occasionally entertains itself by balancing and rolling a SPHEAL on its nose.
SEALEO often balances and rolls things on the tip of its nose. While the POKéMON is rolling something, it checks the object’s aroma and texture to determine whether it likes the object or not.
Sealeo Weakness
Sealeo is weak to Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass, Fighting, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Ice |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
In Ruby & Sapphire, Jolteon can KO Sealeo with Thunderbolt (110-130%). Heracross's Megahorn hits Sealeo for 80-94%. Breloom deals 55-65% with Mach Punch.

HP has grown the most so far (+20), but there's still another 120 stats to gain in the final evolution. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

Moves
Egg moves make a real difference. Sealeo gets Curse and Fissure exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Normal and Ground coverage and more rounds out the picture alongside Blizzard and Ice Beam.

How to Get Sealeo in Ruby & Sapphire
You're catching Spheal first, not Sealeo. Spheal appears at solid rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 2-stage line with evolution methods between each stage.
How to Obtain Sealeo in Ruby & Sapphire
Spheal is your first catch on the way to Sealeo. You'll find walking and surfing encounters from Lv. 25-35 across 18 total spots in the chain.

Sealeo Guide
Sealeo is meant to evolve into Walrein. At 410 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Thick Fat is what you want on Sealeo. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Ice Body, Oblivious) work on paper but Thick Fat is what makes Sealeo worth using.
Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Sealeo is a special attacker with base 75 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Game Availability
Available in 15 titles since its debut in Ruby & Sapphire, Sealeo spans 8 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through catching or hatching as a base form in most mainline games.
