Stats & Training
An unusually even spread gives Mew flexibility. HP barely edges ahead. But any other stat isn't far off. Tough to catch and follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve. Yields 3 HP stat exp.
So rare that it is still said to be a mirage by many experts. Only a few people have seen it worldwide.

Mew Weakness
Mew has no type weaknesses thanks to its unique defensive typing. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Psychic |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
Red & Blue Evolution
A Psychic-type mythical at 600 base stats, Mew can't breed or evolve. Event distribution is the standard way to obtain one. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

Best Build
Gen 1 build content has limited support (no abilities, held items, or natures).

Moves
Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Mew won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 11 types means it always has an effective option. Dream Eater and Psychic anchor the STAB core.

Mew Guide
For the Red & Blue meta, At 600 BST, Mew is built different. We rank it A-Tier. As a Mythical Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a sweeper.
Mew has no type weaknesses, making it hard to counter through typing alone. Focus on status moves, entry hazards, or raw neutral damage to take it down.
Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Mew is a special attacker with base 100 Special. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a sweeper.
For Red & Blue, Mew has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.
In Red & Blue, Mew is a Mythical encounter. Story-locked or postgame, depending on the version. See the Locations section for where to find it. It also appears in 19 other games across the series.
Game Availability
Mew first appeared in Red & Blue and has been available in 20 titles. Mythical distribution means event-only access in most games, making it one of the harder Pokemon to collect.
