Stats & Training
Klang's spread isn't flashy. Defense leads, Speed trails, 3 stats clear the bar. Moderately hard to find and worth 2 Defense EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
By changing the direction in which it rotates, it communicates its feelings to others. When angry, it rotates faster.
Spinning minigears are rotated at high speed and repeatedly fired away. It is dangerous if the gears don’t return.
Klang Weakness
Klang is weak to Fire, Fighting, and Ground. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. 11 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. With 60 HP and balanced defenses, Klang can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Fighting, Ground |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Normal, Grass, Ice, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Poison |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
In Black & White, Excadrill's Earthquake hits Klang for 52-62%. Volcarona threatens a KO with Fire Blast (87-103%). Conkeldurr deals 45-53% with Drain Punch.

Black & White Evolution
Klang is the middle stage between Klink and Klinklang. It's a three-stage line with one more evolution to go. For breeding, average hatch time with no compatible partners via one egg group. Attack has grown the most so far (+25), but there's still another 80 stats to gain in the final evolution. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Klang is genderless — breed with Ditto to produce Klink eggs. Part of the Mineral egg group.
Black & White Klang Best Moveset
Klang's built to absorb hits. Impish nature leans into physical wall duty, Eviolite gives it a bulk boost that only works before full evolution, and Rest handles sustain. Clearbody and max HP and Defense EVs tie the defensive profile together.

Moves
Klang develops a solid moveset just through leveling. Zap Cannon and Hyper Beam show up naturally, and the progression handles both STAB and utility without leaning on TMs for the core attacks.

Klang Guide
In Black & White, Klang isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Klinklang to unlock its full potential. At 440 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Plus is the go-to ability for Klang. It increases Special Attack to 1.5× when a friendly Pokémon has plus or minus. Its hidden ability Clear Body can work in specific setups. Minus is the other option. Pick based on what your team needs.
In Black & White, Klang fills the balanced role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 80 Attack). Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Game Availability
Introduced in Black & White, Klang has appeared in 7 games across 6 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
